Europcar which is owned by the Imperial Group has joined other companies in the group by participating in I-Pledge, a road safety campaign which aims to make South African roads safer. Road safety is important to Europcar’s business and with the high death toll numbers on South Africa’s roads daily; Europcar is committed to educating its employees on an ongoing basis to ensure that they help make South Africa’s roads safer. Recently, Imperial partnered with the Department of Transport and became a Friend of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020, a global road safety initiative pioneered by the United Nations.
In essence, this national Imperial Group campaign highlights the fact that road safety starts with individuals and encourages all South Africans to personally pledge their commitment to better behaviour on the roads. To date, 100 percent of Europcar’s employees have taken the I-Pledge as part of Europcar’s commitment to this cause and the company is encouraging its customers to also take the I-Pledge.
“For us at Europcar, being safer drivers and encouraging road safety in general is an ongoing obligation that we are committed to. We are pleased that South Africans are joining together to encourage each other to make personal attitude and behaviour changes when using South African roads,” says Dawn Nathan-Jones, CEO of Europcar.
Being part of the Imperial I-Pledge campaign is just one of the campaigns that Europcar has rolled out to raise awareness about road safety. Europcar recently launched “Charm School for Drivers” which promoted safer driving by encouraging road users to be more courteous and considerate on the roads.
